On Tuesday, Uncle Bacala’s of Garden City Park welcomed a new restaurant into the family: The Smithtown location takes over an address formerly occupied by Venezia and, before that, Marchello’s.
It’s been nearly two years since Uncle Bacala’s owner, Peter Hewitson, took on the project; red tape has kept him and his team occupied. Bacala’s executive chef, Billy Galletti, will be overseeing both kitchens, but a former chef, Joseph Cacace, has come back on board to get Smithtown up and running. The new restaurant will be serving the same Italian-American menu as the original.
