Brooks & Porter in Merrick closes

Brooks & Porter, the stylish Merrick steakhouse, has closed.

The spacious, bi-level spot, which opened in 2008, received a two-star rating from Newsday’s Peter Gianotti about a month after its opening.

At that point, he wrote it was “already one of the prime steak houses on Long Island.”

What will become of the site at 16 Merrick Ave., half a block from the LIRR station, remains to be seen.
