Brunello Italian Kitchen has opened in the Deer Park Avenue building that used to be Ludlow Bistro. Chef-owner Domenick Maresca ran the kitchen for more than 25 years at Vinnie’s Mulberry Street in East Islip; his partner here is Vincent Palmieri, who used to own Vinnie’s.
Maresca’s extensive (and reasonably priced) menu mixes classic Italian American (Caesar salad, $8.95; penne alla vodka, $12.95; chicken Parmesan, $15.95) with regional Italian (orecchiette Baresi, $12.95; pappardelle Bolognese, $12.95; veal saltimbocca, $19.95) and New American (braised short ribs on cauliflower mash, $19.95; pan-seared salmon with orzo and asparagus, $21.95).
Plus there are a few curveballs of Maresca’s own devising: “Train-wreck” lasagna, $12.95, is made to order in a skillet with fresh pasta, beef ragu, crumbled sausage, ricotta and mozzarella.
Brunello Italian Kitchen is at 1945 Deer Park Ave., Deer Park, 631-940-3620, brunelloitaliankitchen.com
