The new Cedarhurst Cafe came into being when co-owner and chef John Cordoba relocated the 18-year-old Cedarhurst Avenue Cafe to the site of the former Harvey’s, teaming up with restaurateur Harvey Sobler. Their new spot, which has a bar and lounge up front, features the Latin-accented cuisine of Barcelona-born executive chef Jose Zamora. Salads are a specialty of Cordoba, who hails from Costa Rica. The vibe here is casual, the prices moderate.
Some items from the lunch and dinner menu: a blackened tilapia salad ($15.95), portobello spinach burger salad ($13.95), grilled tropical salmon ($16.95) and a grilled skirt steak with chimichurri ($16.95).
The restaurant also serves breakfast on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.
Cedarhurst Cafe is at 477 Chestnut St., Cedarhurst, 516-295-1100.
