The Long Island Farm Bureau is hosting a day of local produce, wine and food competitions at the Suffolk County Farm in Yaphank on Friday, Aug. 8. At the “Celebrate Grown on Long Island Day" farmers market, you’ll have the chance to buy local fruits and vegetables, chat with the farmers, taste wines and visit with the farm’s animals.

At 10 a.m., chefs Kyle Romeo (Jedediah Hawkins Inn, Jamesport) and Steve Amaral (North Fork Chocolate Co,, Calverton) will compete in an "Iron Chef"-style seafood throwdown. The market will wind down at 2 p.m.
