Chan's Sushi & Teriyaki opens in Lake Ronkonkoma

Any number of Asian food needs can be met in a little Lake Ronkonkoma strip mall, where Chan’s Sushi & Teriyaki recently opened adjacent to Chan’s Kitchen, a Chinese takeout under the same ownership.
I stopped into the three-month-old Japanese place and observed a sushi bar and small dining room, everything in a tasteful neutral color palette.
On the moderately priced menu: an appetizer of yellowtail jalapeño ($9.95), an entree of chirashi ($15), and an “angel” roll comprising tuna, salmon, avocado, tempura flakes and spicy sauce ($9.95). From the kitchen menu: shrimp tempura ($12.95) and salmon teriyaki ($12.95).
Vegetarian dishes, such as tofu teriyaki ($10.95) and a yam roll ($4) are designated with little shamrocks — a boon to those who don't eat meat, fish or poultry.
