The Catch Seafood Tavern, which shut down on New Year’s Eve, was supposed to reopen come spring. Sadly, it won't.

Chef co-owner Eric Miller said that he rented the site for two years with an option to buy but could not come to an agreement with the landlord on the price.

A shame. There aren’t too many restaurants that start a meal with hot flaky biscuits, as The Catch did. I'll well remember the  surprisingly light "stuffies," Rhode-Island style baked clams spiked with sausage, dotted with corn. And the cool, classic generous lobster roll. And the impeccable seared day-boat sea scallops with an herbal lemon-basil sauce.

Don't count Miller out of the food scene, though. Right now he's in East Hampton, where he owns Food & Co., a catering operation with an Italian takeout  shop called Pasquale Homemade, run by chef Pasquale Langella (who used to make mozzarella at the former Tutto Italiano in East Hampton).
