Nisen Sushi, the high-style Japanese restaurant, takes a Western turn on Oct. 5, hosting a tasting dinner highlighting Samuel Adams brews.

There will be two seatings: 5:30 p.m., when the cost is $40 per person; and 8:30 p.m., when it's $60. Tickets must be purchased in advance, either by phone or via Nisen Sushi's website. The eatery's regular menu won't be available that night.

The tasting includes oysters with a spicy mignonette sauce and charred jalapeno cocktail sauce, paired with Samuel Adams Pale Ale; Kobe beef sliders, with Boston Lager; buttermilk fried chicken with Octoberfest; and double-chocolate espresso Bruno, a sweet with creme anglaise and chocolate stout ice cream, with Cream Stout.

Nisen Sushi, 5032 Jericho Tpke., Commack; 631-462-1000. This offer is not available at the restaurant's Woodbury branch.
