Cucina 25 and Sunny’s Riverhead Diner & Grill open in Riverhead
Two new restaurants are bringing flavors past and present to downtown Riverhead.
Cucina 25, which takes over the old Uncle Joe’s Pizzeria spot, specializes in Italian-American fare and casual American dishes at moderate prices, in addition to pizzas and calzones. You’ll find assorted Parmigianas, baked pastas, linguine with clam sauce, fettuccine Alfredo, penne Cucina with sausage and broccoli rabe plus peppers, seafood fra diavolo, salads, soups, panini and hero sandwiches. Co-owner Rob Manolio added that the pizzas include the mainstays as well as bruschetta pie and one capped with penne alla vodka.

Sunny’s Riverhead Diner & Grill moves into the former site of the Riverhead Grill, which dated to 1922. Co-owner Sunny Linzanckie said, “We’ve freshened it up” but will “keep it similar” in style while adding some new dishes. On the menu are choices such as burgers, fried chicken, biscuits with sausage gravy, corned beef and a meatloaf sandwich.
The moderately priced restaurant currently is open for breakfast and lunch seven days, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. for six and 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. It’s expected to open soon for dinner. 87 E. Main St.; 631-381-0381
