New bar at Bliss, East Setauket

New bar at Bliss, East Setauket Credit: Handout

The level of Bliss in East Setauket has risen of late. This according to owner, Ron Hoffman, who says the place has a new menu and has been fully renovated, with a mahogany and granite bar installed. Flat-screen TVs, too.

Even more important is the launch of  the seasonal menu by chef Rob Matthews (who previously cooked at Kitchen a Bistro in St. James and La Plage in Wading River). Items in his new repertoire include an appetizer of braised pork shoulder with moo shu pancake, scallions and cucumber ($12), an avocado and pink grapefruit salad with romaine hearts and bacon in a ginger sesame dressing ($13), and an entree of chili -dusted monkfish with Israeli couscous, apricot and ham ($27).

Also new: The restaurant, which has been closed on Mondays, is now open every day. And, as of this coming Monday, Bliss will inaugurate lunch service, featuring a “chalkboard” menu of whatever the market bears.

Bliss is at 766 Rte. 25A, East Setauket, 631-941-0430
