For many years, Espresso da Asporto in Sag Harbor was the place to go for affordable takeout in an expensive neighborhood. When its Division Street building was sold last year and the more upscale Harbor Market took its place, local teenagers and others on a budget lamented its passing.
Now, Espresso has risen again, on Main Street between La Superica and Yummylicious, in a long-vacant spot where the Cigar Bar used to be. It’s strictly takeout now (the old Espresso had a market and some tables), serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The large menu is the same: omelets and egg platters ($7.50 to $9), hot heroes ($8.75 for meatball Parmigiana, $14.75 for shrimp Parmigiana), wraps ($9.50 for cracked pepper turkey, $13.75 for Cajun tuna and avocado), pizzas ($11.75 for a medium pie, $14.75 for large), pastas, and Italian-style entrees (from $15.75 for penne with roasted artichokes to $19.75 for veal Parmigiana). Burgers ($9.75 to $11.75) come with fries. Portions are large. Focaccia sandwiches serve at least two, as do most of the heaping containers of pasta.
Co-owners Danny Cheng and Rich Camacho planned a soft opening for last Monday, but the place is up and running.
Espresso da Asporto is located at 2 Main St., Sag Harbor, 631-725-5668.
