Farmhouse, the cozy (and cramped) Front Street eatery, has remade itself under new management and chef Jeffery Slade.
It's a charming little spot, with well-worn wood-top tables, some candlelight, and as many customers as possible getting acquainted with each other and some excellent food.
Farmhouse is especially appealing this time of year. A few snowflakes would complete the very pretty, rustic picture.
Slade's flavorful fare does the rest, from the fine-tuned roasted beet-and-goat cheese salad with candied ginger to the crabcakes accented with a coulis of red pepper; the braised pork shank with Rome apples to the duck breast with sweet-potato puree. And he prepares a terrific flourless chocolate cake.
Farmhouse is open Friday to Monday for dinner.
