One Farmingdale Italian restaurant closes, another opens in its place.

Sadly, La Casuccia is no more. I recall that chef owner Ivan Cordero, born in Ecuador, cooked with Italian spirit.  Some favorite dishes: head-on grilled shrimp, penne with escarole and white beans and ribollita (Tuscan vegetable soup).

Last week, the space was reborn as the Farmingdale offshoot of the Melville restaurant Tre Scalini. Owner Tony Dushaj said that the menu is similar to the original but with slightly higher prices at the new locale, which also has a party room.

Tre Scalini is at 96 Main St., Farmingdale, 516-249-0140, and at 672 Walt Whitman Rd., Melville, 631-673-1766.
