After some waiting and watching, Changing Times American Sports Bar & Grille has finally landed in Bay Shore.

The grand opening took place on Saturday, March 24 – an event that has been anticipated ever since a Facebook page for Changing Times Bay Shore appeared in August of 2011 to announce its impeding arrival. The venue is the third under the Changing Times brand (with Changing Times Ale House in Northport and Changing Times Pub in Farmingdale), but unlike the others – which employ a traditional sports bar feel – the newest member of the company has a singular personality.

Not radically different – for just like the first two ‘Times, sports is a major factor -- as 30 large flat screens wrap the interior in a virtual circle of games and events shown in high-definition. However, CTBS takes more of a sleek approach to its décor, with hues of cream and brown throughout and a sparse appearance, seeming more chic that the average stop for viewing professional athletic competitions. Brew fans will find several beers to choose from, and the bar features long golden tubes that hold a number of taps ready to pour. The menu is also quite full of offerings, as sandwiches, burgers and appetizers (some with contemporary American flair) are part of the program.

As for the nightlife calendar, it’s still in the works for now, with weekends likely to feature live music and DJs in the days to come – but there’s already a jukebox in place, all those aforementioned TVs and the location at 29-31 E. Main St. is right in the middle of the happening Bay Shore scene – a situation that could lead to some very busy nights to come, even on evenings when there isn’t a championship of some sort on the line.
