'Day Sessions' at Speakeasy in Long Beach

The Sunday scene on West Beech Street in Long Beach can be as active as any stretch on the Island. Home to more than a dozen bars and restaurants, the venues combine to create a crawl where people can easily roll in and out of places, grab a drink and take in some sun. There’s always some music playing, too; some of it light acoustic, the rest jukebox-generated or piped in – but come Saturday, June 30, there’s a chance some seriously energetic live sounds might be found down at one spot in particular.

Starting at 3 p.m., Speakeasy in Long Beach will play host to “Day Sessions,” a multi-set show featuring musicians local to LB. Performances from artists like Sean Corrigan, Timmy Fasano and others are being promoted – advertised as acoustic sets – but with Corrigan and Fasano belonging to loud, punk-to-hard rock bands All Grown Up and Saints, it’s hard to imagine there won’t be at least a bit more energy than the average unplugged show tends to generate.

Furthermore, there will be raffles from the Stay+ print and clothing company to benefit Peaceful Minds, a nonprofit community wellness center offering programs and complementary therapies to combat veterans who served in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
