There will be 8,300 square feet in Huntington for you to learn Brazilian jiu-jitsu for free this Saturday, May 22.
Matt Serra, the former UFC welterweight champion, will offer an entire day of free BJJ and MMA classes at the grand opening of his new Serra BJJ academy. It's located at 365 W. Jericho Turnpike, about 300 feet up the road from his previous school.
Renzo Gracie, the legendary BJJ instructor and fighter, will be there to help train attendees. Gracie, part of BJJ's first family, was Serra's master, and Serra was the first American to ever receive a BJJ black belt from Gracie.
Ricardo Almeida, a UFC welterweight contender and another Gracie student, will also be there. There's a possibility, too, that Almeida will bring his protege with him, UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. However, LOL hasn't been able to confirm that yet, so don't get mad at us if he's not there.
Here's the schedule:
10 a.m. : Kids and Teens class
11:30 a.m.: Adult kickboxing class
1 p.m.: Adult BJJ class
2:30 p.m.: Free seminar for current and former students.
