Spiga Bakery

There may be no other bakery on Long Island where you can enjoy that awe-inspiring Sicilian confection briosce con gelato: a brioche roll stuffed with gelato. At Spiga, both the gelato and the brioche are homemade, and the combination is about the best ice-cream sandwich imaginable.

Torta Fina

Tall cakes have been a signature at Torta Fina since Joseph Campbell and Thomas DeStefano opened their first store in Commack in 1999, but cakes are just the beginning. Torta Fina sells 20 varieties of biscotti, fancy cupcakes (such as Guinness gingerbread with candied ginger), pies, biscuits, scones, shortbreads, muffins, Valrhona brownies, a malted chocolate caramel tart and a "kitchen sink" cookie with potato chips, pretzels, butterscotch, chocolate and peanut butter.

Copenhagen Bakery

Since Flemming and Stacé Hansen bought the bakery in 1998, it has become one of Northport's busiest hubs, with hot oatmeal for breakfast, homemade soups and wraps and sandwiches (on homemade bread) for lunch and a delicious selection of Danish pastries.

Since Gerard Fioravanti set up shop in Huntington Village, Fiorello Dolce has become one of the Island's most dependable suppliers of exemplary confections. Year-round favorites include the Paris-worthy croissants and brioches (try the new brioche-based "baked-not-fried" doughnuts filled with various combinations of jam, chocolate and custard), elegant cakes, tortes, tarts and pies in regular and individual sizes.

Saint Honore Pastry Shop

At this sweet shop, you'll find French delicacies from croissants, to Marjolaine: layers of dacquoise (nut meringue), chocolate ganache and mocha buttercream.
