The East End summer beckons with refreshing, very satisfying whites and rosés from the North Fork and the Hamptons. They're ready for a picnic, a barbecue, or a lazy afternoon at the shore. Bring a cooler.

Look for the 2014 Paumanok Chenin Blanc ($28), a yearly treat from the Aquebogue producer and the only one starring on Long Island. It has notes of citrus and tropical fruit, and is a distinctive, inviting choice to accompany barbecued or fried chicken and Asian fare. The 2014 Paumanok Dry Riesling ($22) is a wonderful wine, expressive and suggesting citrus and apricot. Versatile and especially good with cured meats, smoked salmon, lobster, roast pork, salads.

The 2014 Bedell Rosé ($25) is easily identified by its vivid, Barbara Kruger-designed label. The Cutchogue wine stems mainly from cabernet sauvignon, and is a berry-filled winner with hints of cherry. Rosé specialist Croteaux Vineyards in Southold excels with the easygoing, light 2014 Merlot 181 Rosé and the vibrant, citrusy 2014 Merlot 314 Rosé (each $20).

In Mattituck, Macari Vineyards delivers a warm-weather 2014 Rosé ($17), energizing and relaxing at the same time; and a balanced, crisp 2014 Sauvignon Blanc ($24), both fine sippers and food wines. Try light seafood dishes with either one.

And for a Hamptonian toast, consider the 2014 Wölffer Estate Rosé ($18) and the handsomely bottled, richer, fruity 2014 Summer in a Bottle Rosé ($24). The Sagaponack winery also makes a light, Italianate wine, the 2014 Trebbiano ($22), right with a cold antipasto and seafood salad.
