With Long Island home to so many members of the military and their families, it shouldn't be difficult for most to understand that throughout the times when servicemen and women are put on assignment, concern for everyone touched by such circumstances can be crucial when it comes to all involved getting by during their daily lives.

Fortunately, there are organizations whose mission it is to help guide military families through every aspect of that experience. One in particular is the Navy SEAL Foundation (NSF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit outfit that works to enhance the efforts of existing Navy and Veteran Affairs programs, and provides support to families with members on active duty, and in case of any resulting tragedies.

Financially, groups such as the NSF need support of their own, and anyone interested in contributing to the cause can do so by attending a special fundraiser to be held at Navy Beach in Montauk on Saturday, June 1.

Running from 4 p.m.-6 p.m., the event will feature wine (from Lieb Cellars), beer (from Brooklyn Brewery), light snacks and live music from area performer Nancy Atlas. In addition, there will be an appearance from a retired Navy SEAL, who will be available for meeting and greeting.

Guests will be asked to make a $35 entry donation at the door, which will benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation. For more information, check Navy Beach online at navybeach.com or send an email to ahoy@navybeach.com.
