'Party in the Park' at Carlyle on the Green

While it's true that much of Long Island's late-night summer-season fun is to be found on or near the coastline, it turns out one of LI's most successful and long-lived get-togethers is completely landlocked within eastern Nassau County.

Back for a 15th year – an impressive age for any recurring event to reach when you consider the capricious nature of nightlife -- Carlyle on the Green’s warm weather socials will kick off their 2014 run on Wednesday, and continue to roll weekly until Labor Day.

Previously working under other designations (such as “Country Club Wednesdays”), the affair is now known as "Party in the Park," and what this boat-less bash lacks in seaside ambience it makes up for with scenic trees, manicured flora and wide-open swards in every direction (because of its position along the Bethpage State Park Black golf course) -- making the spot’s patio an excellent point from which to see a sensational sunset when the weather is clear. Then again, if the skies do turn scary, the Bethpage State Park clubhouse is always available as an indoor component -- a luxurious room that features high ceilings, wood floors, short palm trees and lounge furniture ready for sit-down table service.

Following Carlyle’s happy hour (beginning at 5 p.m.), Party in the Park officially launches at 7 p.m. with live outdoor music (the June 11 season-opener will star cover act That 70s Band), and guests can also enjoy food (such as a raw bar, barbecue and even full entrees) and a full bar, including cocktails.
