Plaxico in Plainview

With virtually every bar, inn or tavern on Long Island equipped with HDTVs, and carrying National Football League games on those hi-quality tubes, getting a clear look at what your favorite pigskin players are up to is no challenge. But then again, with all the NFL stars doing live appearances in Nassau County this week, it’s pretty easy to see some in person as well.

On Monday, Sept. 10, Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes, cornerback Kyle Wilson and former Jets safety Victor Green are booked to appear at a function in Roslyn -- but in case you miss Holmes the first time, he’s also scheduled for a second Island gig, and there he’ll be appearing alongside Jets linebacker Bart Scott and former Jet/ former Giant Plaxico Burress at Ferrari-Maserati of Long Island (65 South Service Rd., Plainview, 1-888-769-9216, plainview.ferraridealers.com) on Wednesday, Sept. 12.

From 7-10 p.m., Burress (currently a free agent, not playing for any team) will join Holmes and Scott to benefit the Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation, an organization that works locally toward cancer patient care, education and research. The night will work as a fundraiser, and also as a celebration for luxury car dealership owner Stuart Hayim, who not only recovered from lymphoma, but has gone on to become a successful competitive offshore powerboat racer (that also lends financial support to Don Monti along the way).

The evening will feature live music, a silent auction, cocktails, a Scotch tasting and a DJ. In addition, there will be a special appearance by professional race car driver Paul “PT” Tracy -- not to mention all the pricey Ferraris that sell from this combination showroom and swanky event space.
