For all the club-goers heading out this weekend who were doing the same thing about 10 years ago, this phrase should sound familiar: “Wall Street is open.”

A decade ago, the space at 573 Nesconset Highway in Hauppauge was known as Wall Street, as it is once again, starting tonight (Thursday, Sept. 13).

There have been changes and renovations along the way – not to mention many different signs that have hung over the doors – with monikers such as “Bianco Ultra Lounge,” “Viper Bar” and “Silk Ultra Lounge,” all previously applied. But once again, the name that was used in the early 2000s has come back to reclaim the marquee.

As of last night, the final touches were still being put on. The lights were turned up, and the décor could be seen easily from the street. Although the black-and-white motif, the three bars, the large dance floor and disco ball were in plain view, so was a ladder – but last-minute fixes are always commonplace when it comes to clubs. A large sign that had arrived in July (stating the words “Wall Street” with a bull charging between them) was not there, so whatever alterations are being made will be evident when the first party of The Wall Street Grand Opening Weekend takes place this evening.

Guests may start arriving at 10 p.m., and there’s no cover charge – a deal that will hold true for the Friday and Saturday parties as well – in celebration of its first weekend back in business. All are asked to dress to impress, with the age of admission for gentlemen set at 23; age 21 for ladies. This mature range will be in place on other nights as well, save Fridays, where patrons are asked to be 28 and over. When this was still “Silk” (up until May of this year), younger, mostly under-30 year-olds, made up the scene, but expectations are that Wall Street 2.0 will be taking aim at Long Island’s bustling mature club crowd.

Interest from that group may have flashed already. Last night, a woman in a white sports car pulled up to investigate the club's progress. “I can’t wait to check this out!” exclaimed Michelle Licata, a 55 year-old booking agent from Smithtown. She was under the impression the spot was to open on Wednesday, but her anticipation wasn’t diminished by discovering that she would need to wait one more day. “It looks like they did a good job…I used to come here all the time and I can’t wait to do it again,” she said.
