Global Buffet in Levittown offers all-you-can-eat deal
Global Buffet joins something of a pan-Asian restaurant row taking shape in the Levittown shopping center where Izumi Sushi and Hibachi Steakhouse opened recently, and where Shanghai Gourmet is a longtime landmark.
The six-month-old all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant seems to have found its niche judging from the capacity crowd in its cavernous dining room on a recent Saturday night — and the estimated 40-minute wait for a table.
During the week it is not as crowded, and diners easily fill plates at an array of food stations heaped with Japanese and Chinese specialties. Picky kids can feast on pizza and DIY tacos.
The all-you-can-eat lunch buffet from Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., costs $9.99. The dinner buffet after 3:30 p.m. costs $14.99 Monday through Saturday and $15.99 all-day Sunday. There are $1 discounts for seniors, and kids dine from $3.99 to $8.99.
Global Buffet’s extensive international menu is heavy on seafood. Boiled crawfish, baked clams and glazed sweet-and-sour fish are among the choices. Although the sushi was pre-made on our visit, the buffet-style hibachi station (no extra charge) was open. Fill a plate with your choice of protein and veggies, select one of four sauces (including garlic and teriyaki) and the chef grills it in front of you.
The dessert corner is spread with tempting treats and includes the usual brown pudding plus Jell-O squares (green, red and clear), cookies and soft serve ice cream.
A full bar serves soft drinks, mixed drinks, wine and a half dozen beers on tap — including Sapporo and Guinness. (Extra charge.)
