Hey, here's Frank's Brooklyn Pizza Restaurant. And there goes Louie's.
Under new ownership, the Brooklyn-themed pizzeria-restaurant now carries the name Frank's at the Jericho Turnpike location. The results are pretty good, too: fresh and savory calzone, eggplant rollatine, lasagna, meatballs, pizza toppings -- almost anything with red sauce.
They do, however, need to come up with a tastier crust for all those pies. Tried a Grandma pizza and felt like using the crust as a plate instead of eating it. Just stiff and bland.
The place keeps all the Brooklyn imagery intact, from the '55 Dodgers to Astroland, Borough Hall to the great Bridge. And there are a few from other parts of the city, notably Zito's bakery on Bleecker Street. Berenice Abbott deserves to have at least a pizza named for her, too.
