
Indian restaurant Samrat Palace opens in former site of Arturo’s in Floral Park

Samrat Palace, a primarily Indian restaurant that also prepares Chinese and Thai specialties, has opened in the former site of Arturo’s in Floral Park.
Arturo’s, an Italian-continental establishment, had been in Floral Park since 1961. It has moved into the Manhasset address that was home to Stresa, a four-star Italian-continental restaurant on Northern Boulevard.
Samrat Palace offers Indian classics from tandoori chicken, biryanis of shrimp, chicken and lamb to lamb curry, goat vindaloo, vegetarian specialties, Goa fish curry, chicken tikka masala, kebabs, mulligatawny soup, and traditional breads. Appetizers include samosas, vegetable pakoras, spiced cheese fritters, and bhel puri, or puffed rice with onion, green chilies, coriander and tamarind sauce.
Diners desiring Chinese cuisine will find dishes such as Sichuan shrimp, sweet-and-sour chicken, lamb in spicy Sichuan sauce. Hakka chili-garlic shrimp, and tilapia with black bean sauce, and hot-and-sour soup.
Thai courses take in vegetable, shrimp, lamb, and chicken curries, and fried rice.
