Those with fond memories of the long-gone Tandoor Grill in Rockville Centre might be interested to know that its former co-owner, Ram Bisht, has launched a modern version with the same name in Long Beach. The new Tandoor Grill occupies the space last hosted West End GR, a coffee shop.
Here, the repertoire is quite similar to the one at another dining spot Bisht owns, Raagini Indian Restaurant in Baldwin.
On the menu are such items as tandoori chicken wings, garlic shrimp, mulligatawny soup, lamb curry, shrimp jhalfrezi, chicken korma, goat vindaloo and aloo gobi (cauliflower and potatoes). The costliest entree is $16.99.
Bisht, executive chef both here and at Raagini, said that once the kitchen crew is fully trained, he will be shuttling back and forth between both places. For now, though, he's cooking in Long Beach.
Tandoor Grill is at 1042 W. Beech St., Long Beach, 516-766-4440.
