Italian restaurant La Tavola in Sayville offering tomato-inspired menu

Long Island is tomatoland in August. And La Tavola in Sayville is celebrating the harvest with a ripeness-is-all menu.
The Italian restaurant is offering a three-course, fixed-price menu that's inspired by the season's haul of tomatoes. It will run through Aug. 23, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The cost: $28.95 per person, plus tax and tip.
Choices to start include scallop ceviche with heirloom tomato conserva; grilled yellow tomatoes with charred-tomato vinaigrette; heirloom tomato salad; and "the best," or just-sliced tomatoes with salt and pepper.
Among the main dishes are grilled pork loin with peach-and-golden tomato salsa; pan-roasted salmon with pico de gallo; shrimp-and-fennel ravioli with blistered cherry tomatoes; and strip steak with pickled heirloom tomatoes, which adds $6 to the tab.
