Jedediah Hawkins Inn loses 7th chef
Richard Kanowsky, hired in June to replace Lia Fallon, is no longer executive chef at Jedediah Hawkins Inn in Jamesport.
The restaurant at the gracious Victorian inn has had a revolving door since it opened in 2006. Tom Schaudel was the original chef; he left in 2008 and was followed by Matt Murphy, Steven Lewis, Keith Luce and Alex Algieri. Fallon, formerly of Amarelle in Wading River, took over the kitchen in March. She is now executive chef at the Riverhead Project in Riverhead.
No replacement for Kanowsky has been named. In the interim, former sous chef Kyle Strong Romeo is running the kitchen. Romeo had been the executive chef at Stonewalls restaurant in Riverhead before becoming Kanowsky’s second-in-command.
The restaurant is currently closed but will reopen for dinner on Feb. 7. On Valentine’s Day, Jedediah is partnering with Sparkling Pointe winery for a four-course tasting menu featuring — among other choices — oysters with caviar, fennel-crusted beef carpaccio, lobster “winter” roll, herb-crusted rack of lamb and flourless chocolate cake. The price is $75, with an additional $35 charge for sparkling wine pairings. Click here to see the full menu.
