Kabab house joins global Bethpage enclave
Madina Kabab House, specializing in the grilled fare of Afghanistan, just opened in a Bethpage strip mall space situated alongside Pinatas Mexican Grill. The counter-serve eatery is an offshoot of the nearby Madina Market, which features Middle Eastern groceries. Interestingly, the adjacent strip mall houses The Orient, one of Long Island’s most authentic Chinese restaurants. Which makes this little corner of Bethpage a veritable nexus of international eating.
I stopped into the new Kabab House and saw that there’s only a billboard listing menu items. Printed menus should be available shortly, I was told.
Current selections include a combination platter of chicken tikka and a beef kofte kebab with rice and salad ($8.99), a combination chicken tikka, lamb tikka and beef kofte kebab ($14.99), a falafel sandwich ($3.99) and a burger ($3.99). Today, the place was featuring house-made chicken shawarma, sliced off a spit. ($6.99 sandwich, $8.99 platter).
Madina Kabab House is at 599 Hicksville Rd., Bethpage, 516-597-5222.
