Kazan succeeds Innuendo in Port Washington

Kazan Authentic Central Asian Cuisine brings something novel to Port Washington’s table: the fare of Uzbekistan, once a republic within the Soviet Union. Co-owner Michael Davydov, who hails from that Central Asian republic, said that he’s seen similar restaurants in Brooklyn and Queens go over big with those with and without roots in that part of the world. Dennis Mavashov, a partner at Innuendo, is a co-owner here, too.
The menu lists all manner of shish kebab by the skewer — lamb ($4.50), beef ($4.50), calf’s liver ($4.25) and chicken ($4.25) — to be eaten with a salad or vegetable ($7-$9) served family-style, for the entire table.
Regular entrees include manty ($12), steamed beef-filled Asian dumplings, chicken tabaka ($19) a butterflied Cornish hen served with French fries and grilled vegetables, and Uzbek plov ($12), a rice and vegetable casserole.
Davydov speaks proudly of his house-made custard-filled napoleon ($7).
