Here comes the moon: Luna Cabana has opened in the East Meadow space that was previously Mi Cabana.

The restaurant’s sign indicates that there is “parking in the rear” (critical information for a spot on Hempstead Turnpike) as well as “Colombia-American fusion,” which means that in addition to traditional Colombian dishes, you’ll find hot wings served with spicy slaw ($7.95), hummus with pita ($7.99), wraps ($8.95), Caesar and mesclun salads ($6.95) and chicken Parmesan ($13.50).

Colombian specialties include beef empanadas ($6), rotisserie chicken ($9.95 per bird) and the massive Colombian platters bandeja (grilled steak served with fried sweet plantains, pork rind, sausage, avocado, avocado, arepa and fried egg — with rice and beans too, $14.75) and picada (bite-sized pieces of sausage, steak, pork rind, fried yucca, fried potatoes and fried green plantains, $22.50).

Before Mi Cabana, this address housed a succession of Italian restaurants, including La Famiglia, Fabio’s, Villa Dell Nonna and Puglia of Little Italy. The last one, Sacramone’s, left its coal-burning oven behind; you can see it just past the restrooms.

Luna Cabana is at 2366 Hempstead Tpke., East Meadow, 516-513-0166.
