Maggie's on Park comes to Massapequa Park
Maggie’s on Park may not sound like the name of an Italian restaurant, but this spacious and pubby-looking spot in Massapequa Park is so called because of the nickname of owner Ambrose Magliocco.
Executive chef John Orphanos, who composed the “Italian American bistro” menu, formerly cooked at Canterbury Ales Oyster Bar & Grill in Oyster Bay and the departed Gabrielle’s Brasserie and Wine Bar in Rockville Centre.
“I like to put a twist on things,” Orphanos said, noting that his veal Sorrentino ($22) is made with grilled instead of fried eggplant and that he serves Prince Edward Island mussels ($10) in a spicy lobster broth instead of marinara. Other signature items: veal chop of the day ($27) and short ribs braised in Chianti over creamy Gorgonzola polenta ($22). Orphanos makes all desserts in house, among them a “cheesecake du jour” and Nutella crème brûlée.
Maggie’s on Park is at 1020 Park Blvd., Massapequa Park, 516-798-1555
