Manhattan restaurant Beautique set to open offshoot in Southampton
Beautique, the much-anticipated Hamptons offshoot of the posh Manhattan magnet for boldface staples and the young moneyed, is slated to open May 22 at Southampton's Hotel Capri, which is owned by celebrity lawyer Mark Geragos.
A stop-work order was lifted Tuesday, allowing renovations to be completed at the site, said Edward D. Burke Jr., the Sag Harbor attorney representing Beautique. Burke said that a required firewall had been installed.
Usually the firewall at the original Beautique is at the door. The restaurant, next to the Paris theater and opposite The Plaza hotel on West 58th Street, specializes in exclusivity and expense, plus mainly American fare and cocktails.
The Southampton spot, a contemporary American eatery, is scheduled to open at 6 p.m., under executive chef Greg Grossman, the 19-year-old who received plenty of publicity last year as teen chef at the departed Georgica in Wainscott. Alain Allegretti, who has specialized in modern French cooking, is the culinary director.
Expect dishes such as duck confit salad, red snapper crudo and flat-iron steak.
Geragos purchased the Capri in February for $4.7 million. His clients have includes Chris Brown, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Winona Ryder.
