Mannino’s Italian Kitchen has relocated from its strip mall digs on Commack Road in Commack to a grand new bi-level space on Jericho Turnpike. The building, which formerly housed ToFu, has been renovated throughout.
According to chef/co-owner Joe Mannino, the restaurant now offers seating for about 150. The first floor features a small dining room and a marble-topped bar and lounge area with red velvet-covered bench seating. A mahogany staircase leads upstairs, where there’s another bar and two dining rooms, the larger one with a “Hamptons/South Beach” look. Also upstairs is an outdoor terrace with a fire pit that’s glass-enclosed on three sides, making it accessible almost year-round.
Mannino said that the current menu is essentially the same as it was at the former location, but he will be adding steaks and whole fish shortly. Among current choices: fried calamari arrabbiata ($14.95), clams oreganata ($9.95), angel hair puttanesca ($15.95), eggplant rollatini ($15.95), chicken Parmigiana ($18.95) and veal piccata ($20.95).
Long Island’s three Mannino’s restaurants are co-owned by brothers Joe, John and Frank Mannino, with John Mannino in charge of the location in Oakdale and Frank operating the Smithtown spot.
Mannino’s Italian Kitchen is at 2158 Jericho Tpke., Commack, 631-462-0909, manninosrestaurant.com.
