Mexican restaurant Tocolo Cantina in Garden City gets new chef

Nelson Lopez, who formerly cooked at Dos Caminos in Manhattan, is the new executive chef at Tocolo Cantina in Garden City.
Lopez succeeds Alexis Samayoa, who earned the restaurant a two-and-one-half star rating in Newsday earlier this year.
The menu at Tocolo Cantina, which is situated in The Gallery at Wesbury Plaza, will continue to keep all the "favorites," said owner Lloyd Rosenman.
He added that a new menu also includes "more accessible" fare, such as chicken enchiladas, beef brisket enchiladas and a "Tocolo burger." The goal is to appeal to a broader range of customers, Rosenman said.
Ricardo Montalvo is the restaurant's new general manager. He had worked with former general manager Samantha Macleod.
