Neiman Marcus NM Cafe opens at Roosevelt Field with varied menu
Neiman Marcus opens its first Long Island location Friday at Roosevelt Field, and shoppers who are overwhelmed by luxury can repair to the store’s NM Café for a bit of reasonably priced sustenance.
The menu features seven salads and eight sandwiches, all of which are priced from $10 to $18. There are ladies-who-lunch classics such as chicken salad on whole wheat bread ($12.50) and salmon green goddess salad ($18), and more contemporary dishes such as fish tacos ($17) and grilled shrimp and quinoa salad ($18). Calorie counts are given (natch), and they range between 500 (bistro salad) and 1,030 (the cheeseburger with caramelized onions on a brioche bun).
There are also starters, three “main selections” (NM meatloaf, chicken Milanese and shrimp fra diavolo) and four $10 meals “for our little shoppers” that come with a beverage and ice cream or a chocolate-chip cookie.
As at all NM Cafés, guests are greeted with a cup of chicken consommé, popovers and strawberry butter.
Chef Lizet Gediciyan, a graduate of the Fench Culinary Institute in Manhattan, will try to use locally sourced ingredients, including bread from Blue Duck Bakery in Southold.
NM Café is open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Sunday a brunch menu is served.
NM Café is at 630 Old Country Rd., Garden City, 516-368-0471.
