Gastropub launches with own beer on tap
Something new is brewing in Amityville. Open since Thursday is Amity Ales Brewpub & Eatery, which takes over the former digs of Vero.
The place was renovated with reclaimed wood from a barn in Ohio. Co-owner Helen Corry, who is also an owner at Corry's Ale House in Wantagh, said that the restaurant is currently brewing a single beer, offered on tap. There are 15 others on tap, as well, along with another 15 by the bottle.
Chef Ramon Munoz formerly cooked at Corry's Ale House in Wantagh. On the menu are such dishes as mashed potato balls with bacon and cheddar served with cheddar ale sauce ($9), shepherd's pie ($14), a roast loin of pork sandwich with hand-cut fries ($14) and, the costliest item, Guinness-marinated skirt steak ($19).
Amity Ales Brewpub & Eatery is at 192 Broadway, Amityville, 631-464-4646.
