New in Great River: George Martin’s Strip Steak
Today marks the opening of the newest restaurant in the George Martin family: George Martin’s Strip Steak opens in the sylvan setting that used to house Tedesco’s Trattoria. (The restaurant is situated on the edge of Heckscher State Park, a few hundred yards from Nicoll Bay.)
Strip Steak is the only George Martin restaurant in Suffolk County. The original George Martin is in Rockville Centre and the group includes George Martin’s Grillfires in Long Beach, Merrick and Rockville Centre; and Nick’s Tuscan Grill in Long Beach.
Kristina Ueckerman, the general manager, said that Strip Steak was modeled on an old-fashioned Prohibition-era steakhouse. The menu is heavy on meat with steak prices ranging from $26, for a marinated skirt steak, to $75 for porterhouse for two. Also on offer: various surf-and-turf combos, braised short ribs, chicken Parmesan, crabmeat-stuffed salmon and sesame-crusted tuna, most entrees in the mid-to-high $20 range.
The restaurant opens for dinner at 5 p.m. and closes at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. George Martin’s Strip Steak is at 60 River Rd., Great River, 631-650-6777.
