Oceans 5: A first in Shoreham

Making local history, the new Oceans 5 Seafood Market & Eatery brings to Shoreham two things it's never had: a full service restaurant and a bar. This, according to co-owner and chef Rick Megna, who also owns Rick's Seafood market and restaurant in upstate Mahopac.
Megna, with partner James Aracri, opened the striking new Shoreham spot just a couple of weeks ago in a strip mall that looks as though it might soon hatch a Japanese restaurant called Osaka.
Stopping in to check out the new seafood place, I found a sparkling fish market on one side, a dining area on the other. With industrial ceilings, huge black and white photographic blowups and an elegant bar area, this one definitely qualifies as a looker.
Although it wasn’t lunch time yet, I ordered a cup of Manhattan clam chowder ($5). It was light and brothy, laced with pieces of fresh clams.
Megna's menu, which is quite extensive, makes for interesting reading. Twin New England-style lobster rolls costs $14 at lunch; as a dinner entree, preceded by a salad and inclusive of a vegetable and starch, it goes for $25. You can also get a burger at lunch ($9) as well as fish 'n chips ($11). Dinner options include a starter of grilled calamari ($9), and such main courses as horseradish-crusted Chilean sea bass ($28) and a N.Y. strip steak ($25). A “create your own” entree section ($21-$28) allows you to pick a fish, a style of cooking (grilled, pan-seared or baked) and, for an additional $3, a sauce.
Oceans 5 Seafood Market & Eatery is at 99 Rte. 25A, Suite 22, Shoreham, 631-849-6414.
