Open and closed in Port Washington, Great Neck

Sushi continues its seemingly inexorable conquest of Port Washington. The spot at 46 Main St. that used to house Shang Hai Pavilion (last bastion of soup dumplings on Long Island) is slated to reopen as Aki, a chainlet with branches in East Northport, White Plains and Bloomfield, N.J. I called the East Northport location and learned that Aki Port Washington should be open in the next few weeks.
A little farther west, Rock-n-Sake has ended its five-year run at 90 Main St. Its replacement? Another Japanese restaurant, Aiko Sushi & Bar (516-883-7253), which opened Thursday. Nice-looking place. Menu pretty standard. (Let it not be forgotten that right next door, at 92 Main, is another Japanese restaurant, Bonsai.)
Up in Manor Haven, Ay Que Rico is, according to a sign in the window and a message on the answering machine, “closed for renovations.” The Cuban-Latino spot opened in June but lost its chef, Eduardo Bover, at the end of the summer.
In Great Neck, The Carousel has closed. This ambitious venture, at 20 South Station Plaza, featured a sushi bar, a sushi conveyor belt, a hibachi room and a tea shop.
