Open in Huntington: Stella Blue

New to Huntington is Stella Blue, a casual, counter-service breakfast and lunch eatery that occupies a long-vacant site on New York Avenue, on the North end of town near Heckscher Park. On its outer brick wall is a mural depicting Jerry Garcia.
“I wanted to bring Woodstock down to Long Island,” said chef co-owner Robert Koopman, who added that the interior is “very hippie” in terms of look and background music. Antiques and art work are part of the look — and also for sale.
Koopman's repertoire combines organic and nonorganic items. Breakfast is served all day and includes such options as pancakes ($5.95), waffles ($5.95), an omelet with avocado, spinach, tomato, onion and bacon ($8.99) and an egg white breakfast sandwich called the “sunshine daydream.” Among lunch options are Southern fried organic chicken ($12.99), organic smoked chicken, made in an electric smoker ($12.99), the “Tennessee Jed” pulled pork sandwich ($9.99), an organic burger ($10.99) and a Boar’s head roast beef sandwich ($7.99).
Organic ice cream, made in upstate Kingston, may be had in a cone or cup and with any number of toppings. There are also muffins, cookies and cakes from pastry chef Leyna Senia.
