Tapas, the original small-plates approach to dining, are the headliners at Salumi, a new destination on Merrick Road.

From cheeses and cured meats to meatballs, mussels and patatas bravas, mini-panini to pulled-beef sliders, short ribs and roast chicken, Salumi covers plenty of territory. There are tapas assortments that focus on Spanish, Italian and French selections, too.

Owners Lilly Canarova and Josh Kobrin were inspired to open the rustic tapas bar after enjoying the dishes in Spain. Their goal: a little neighborhood spot. Prices range from $5 to $8 for tapas, $16 to $27 for the tapas boards.

Salumi is open every day, starting at 4 p.m. for "dinner, drinks and snacking."
