Osaka, a dine-in and take-out Japanese restaurant, has opened in Shoreham. (It's the second recent opening in a town previously devoid of sit-down eateries; Ocean's 5 opened earlier this year.)

The new restaurant, a storefront in the Shoreham Plaza shopping center, offers a traditional range of specialties, from sushi and sashimi to teriyaki and tempura. You'll find almost two dozen colorful combination rolls plus hibachi dishes, too.

There are a couple of New American side trips. Among the more unusual items: tuna pizza, which starts with big-eye tuna and then adds guacamole, tortilla, spicy mayo and balsamic vinegar sauce; and blue-crab avocado, with crabmeat, scallion, more spicy mayo and yuzu-soy dressing in one-half of an avocado.

And, if you need a little Thai, tom yung soup also is available.

Osaka, 99-8 Route 25A, Shoreham; 631-821-1688.

Osaka is in the Shoreham Plaza shopping center, north side of Route 25A, just east of the firehouse.
