The Oyster Bay Main Street Association has sponsored a market since 2020, but the 2024 edition evinces a couple of tweaks. For one, what used to be a summer market has moved into the fall, launching on Sunday, Sept. 8 and running through Nov. 17.

Punit Sabharwal, the organizer, said that the market had always taken place during the summer but that last year, "we extended it through the end of September and found that there was more foot traffic in September than there had been all summer. Locals who has been away during the summer came back to town."

And, about those locals, Sabharwal noted that there were more young families with more young children than ever. And so she drafted more hip local food vendors to appeal to the parents, more child-friendly activities to appeal to the stroller set.

Once composed largely of artisans, the new vendor lineup includes Stellina Ristorante and its sister confectionery, Sabrina’s, providing candy and ice cream; 2 Spring and its sister bakery, Provisions, on bread, cheese and jams. Beach Bird is bringing the chicken nuggets and Schultzy’s is on lobster rolls. From the world beyond Oyster Bay, Nelly’s (of West Babylon, and various farmers markets) will be selling empanadas; Dilly Dilly Donuts will be making fresh doughnuts on its truck.

Activities will include cooking, art and science classes, kid-friendly yoga and jiujitsu, scarecrow stuffing, book-reading, collage-making and pumpkin carving.

74 Audrey Ave., Oyster Bay. Sundays from Sept. 8 to Nov. 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information and updates, follow @oysterbaymarket on Instagram.
