Palm Court in Eisenhower Park: Old-and-new fashioned

Eisenhower Park, where countless barbecues and catered affairs have marked the years, is the home of The Palm Court, the main restaurant at The Carltun complex. It has been a comfortable mix of old and new for years.
It still is.
Traditional in look, the restaurant also has taken some contemporary turns on the menu. The Palm Court has a special-occasion feel, but you'll find it just as appetizing anytime.
You can come for a fine, steakhouse experience, and veer into both New American and continental, too. The food is dependable; the service, polished.
Winning dishes include the Cedar River steak, with sauteed onions, garlic-mashed potatoes, asparagus and wild mushroom sauce; the Duroc pork chop, with apple-mustard sauce, polenta rings and haricots verts; and roasted chicken with porcini-mushroom jus and polenta croutons. Seaside, try the roasted Atlantic halibut with tomato bruschetta and basil-mashed potatoes.
The sweets are carefully composed affairs, from the updated banana split that has bananas- Foster flair to a rich trio of chocolate desserts and a warm apple tart that bridges the seasons.
