Pizza of the week is the Old Fashioned Sicilian pie at Satelite Pizza in Bayport
Satelite Pizza started its high orbit in the year that Hank Aaron hit homer 715, "Jaws" was published, and Richard Nixon had his last meal as president. And it hasn't come down yet.
The local mainstay is known for its epic 30-inch pizza, which may be inscribed with very good garlic knots. But there are many major pies here. A favorite: the Old Fashioned Sicilian, a deep-dish masterpiece with savory marinara sauce, sweet sauteed onions, Pecorino Romano cheese, and toasty bread crumbs. It costs $27.16.
Reliably tasty competition comes from the hefty, stuffed vegetable pizza; the eggplant Parmigiana production; the white pizza; and the traditional Sicilian pie. Satelite also prepares dependable baked pastas.
And you definitely should order at least a half-dozen zeppole, feast-style in a bag under a snowfall of powdered sugar.
