A reader called to tell me I simply had to get over to Taormina, a pizzeria-ristorante in Commack. Its pork chops, he said, were something else.

Indeed. My dinner companion and I ordered them pizzaiola style, with mushrooms and a vibrant marinara. Since there were two huge chops to an order ($19.95), we decided to share. The kitchen plated each chop separately, a thoughtful gesture. So juicy, smoky, delicious.

A pasta — linguine with briny fresh white clam sauce – completed what turned out to be an ideal dinner.

Taormina is at 34 Veterans Memorial Hwy., Commack, 631-499-6900
