Portly Grape in Greenport closed

Call it the final crush.

The Portly Grape in Greenport  has closed, apparently because of a landlord-tenant dispute.

Both the inn and the restaurant have shut. The restaurant, called (sim-pah-ti-koh), which offered "Italian inspired American cuisine," was a sublease. Restaurant management said in a statement on the eatery's website, "We are seeing if there is a possible way that we can come up with an agreement with the actual owners of the building."

Earlier, The Shady Lady Inn occupied the big white building at the 1 Sound Ave. address.
