Trata Estiatorio, the three-star Greek-seafood restaurant that sells heavy-weight fish by the pound, is offering a $35 fixed-price menu. Inexpensive, no. But at Trata, it's a genuine bargain.
The menu is offered Monday to Thursday, 5 to 7 p.m., and all night on Sunday.
Appetizer choices include Greek meatballs with fall vegetables in tomato sauce; raw tuna paired with fennel, radish, olive oil and lemon sorbet; a warm, feta cheese napoleon with fig compote; avgolemono, the chicken-egg drop soup; and dry cured beef with Greek cheese, roasted peppers in pastry.
Main dishes include a grilled fish of the day; rib steak with fork-mashed potatoes and spinach; seafood stew with saffron-thyme broth; and lemon pappardelle, with shrimp, green peas and chervil.
Desserts are highlighted by Greek yogurt with berries, honey and almonds; semolina cake; walnut cake; manouri cheesecake; and apples with blueberry sauce, halva and cinnamon ice cream.
Trata Estiatorio is at 1446 Old Northern Blvd., Roslyn; 516-625-2600.
