Roslyn's GW to become Hendrick's Tavern

The Roslyn address where George Washington had breakfast on April 24, 1790, is about to get a new menu.
Renamed GW after George and Gillis Poll bought the landmark in 2008, the catering facility known for years as George Washington Manor is expected to open as Hendrick's Tavern in early spring.
George Poll, co-owner of the site and of restaurants that include Toku in Manhasset and Bryant & Cooper in Roslyn, said he expects the updating to take about two more months. The new restaurant will serve American and New American cuisine in a more modern setting. Poll said the menu had not been finalized.
Hendrick's Tavern will be “a full-fledged restaurant, " Poll said, adding that there also will be space for catered events.
The new name refers to Hendrick Onderdonk, who hosted Washington. Onderdonk owned the grist mill and paper mill in town, where he also became supervisor.
George and Gillis Poll also own Bar Frites in Greenvale, Cipollini in Manhasset and Majors Steak House in Woodbury and East Meadow.
Hendrick's Tavern will be at 1305 Old Northern Blvd.
